Wow man your work is really developing. I dig the odd pastel color choices. They’re all suitably surreal; the second one looks like a girl and two ghosts.
You might want to look at the skin tones in the guy looking up – his skin doesn’t really have many cool colors in it (unlike, for example, the guy in the last painting, with the turquoise in the shadows). The blues in the highlights are nice though.
Also, the girl’s jacket sticks out a bit because of its lack of darker values (her hair has darker sections). Thing is, I like how it looks though…
These are really cool – the middle one definitely being my favorite. Cecil’s right on with the ghost comment. The great thing about your paintings vs. your photos is that though you seem to be focusing on similar subject matter, the paintings allow you to put so much more of yourself into them. I think the pastels work especially well because these scenes would be, to me, the anti-pastel. They’re brooding, possibly the uncertain moment between moments we normally see. I think you’re on to something here – keep exploring it.
